One of Australia’s biggest bloggers takes on new challenge
GYMPIE, QLD, August 5, 2012 – Recognising what mums want, and providing it to them, seems to be a particular skill of Jody Allen, founder of Stay at Home Mum: Survive and Thrive on One Wage (SAHM), as she prepares to launch a second site, Nifty Mums.
Nifty Mums, a Facebook community dedicated to providing mums with parenting support and advice, has grown rapidly since Jody took it over in mid June, gaining more than 3000 fans in under a month.
“I wanted to see if we would repeat the success we have had with Stay at Home Mum, thinking it might have been bit of a fluke,” she said.
The Stay at Home Mum Facebook site is certainly no fluke, with more than 80,000 followers and a highly engaged community stretching across their website, where they get hundreds of thousands of impressions each month.
“We pride ourselves on taking the time to get to know what our mum’s want to talk about and we give it to them” Jody said. “We have spent a lot of time listening to what our community is talking about, and then searching for the answers for them.
“It’s been a bit of trial and error, learning what gets the biggest response at what time of day, but we are confident we know our community well now and can bring them information they will find interesting,” Jody said.
It’s this seemingly simple philosophy that has been applied to Nifty Mums as well, so far with great success. “We have been really pleased with the growth of Nifty Mums and are looking forward to taking it to the next level, with a supporting website launching in August.’’
